Overview

General visiting hours are from 8 a.m. until 8:30 p.m. Visits from friends and relatives should be limited to 20 minutes. Children under 12 years of age must be accompanied by an adult. Information concerning the visiting hours in the Intensive Care Units and other specialty areas is available at the nurses' stations.

Dining

The Thomas Hospital Cafeteria is located on the ground floor of the hospital and offers healthy meal options. The café features several food stations—a pizza and pasta, Chef’s selections, grill and hot entrées , salads and wraps. Hours of operation are:

Weekdays

  • Breakfast: 7 to 10:30 a.m.
  • Lunch: 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
  • Dinner: 4:30 to 11 p.m.

Weekends

  • Breakfast: 7 to 10:30 a.m.
  • Lunch/dinner: 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Financial assistance

You may be eligible for financial assistance under the terms and conditions that the hospital offers to qualified patients. Contact our patient accounts department at 251-279-1551 for a financial assistance application.

Gift shop

The Thomas Hospital gift shop offers unique gift and seasonal items. Gift shop hours:

  • Weekdays: 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Saturday: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Sunday:1 to 5 p.m.

Hotel accommodations

Many area hotels on the Eastern Shore offer discounted rates for guests visiting family or friends at the hospital. Please mention Thomas Hospital when making your travel arrangements to receive the lowest rates available.

Pastoral services

Our chapel, located on the second floor just off the main elevators, is open at all times for meditation and worship.

  • For a visit from a trained chaplain or a clergy member while you’re in the hospital, call ext. 2-1609 during regular business hours. If you need to speak to someone after business hours, dial “0” for assistance from the operator.
  • Bibles are available for any patient or family member and can be requested from the nurse on duty.
  • Thomas Hospital offers a prayer line staffed by volunteers. If you or a family member would like to be placed on the prayer list, dial ext. 2-1935.

Valet parking

We offer complimentary valet parking at the main entrance of the hospital. This service is available to all patients, families and guests from 6 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

We encourage you to take advantage of this free service, especially on the day of discharge.
